THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT PHOTOVOLTAIC REBATE PROGRAMME

The Photovoltaic Rebate Programme provides cash rebates for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on homes, schools and community use buildings.

On 8 May 2007 the Australian Government announced a $150 million extension to the Photovoltaic Rebate Programme over 5 years, bringing the Government's total investment in photovoltaic rebates to $201.8 million.

Schools and Community Use Buildings (Competitive Grants)

450 watts

50% of the system cost up to 2kW**

*                Grants are available to community organisations and schools that install photovoltaic systems where there is significant educational value.

 

NOTE: *Conditions apply; this information is a guide only; for further information refer to the programme guidelines.
**This limit refers to the grant amount only - there are no restrictions on the size of system that can be installed.

*       Rebates and grants are available for the purchase and installation of major equipment items.

*       Equipment must be new and not second-hand.

*       Residential rebates are for photovoltaic systems that are connected to a main-grid or are very close to a main-grid.

*       Any system eligible for a rebate under the Renewable Remote Power Generation Programme is ineligible for the Photovoltaic Rebate Programme; applicants should discuss which rebate to apply for with an accredited designer and installer.

*       The person who carries out the installation must be accredited for design and installation of photovoltaic systems.
